This Privacy Policy describes how NOTRE CARGO("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, our mobile application, and our logistics services.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information — name, phone number, email address, residential address, and preferred locale when you create a NOTRE CARGO account.
- Shipment data — tracking numbers, package descriptions, declared values, photos of merchandise, and any additional information needed to process your shipment.
- Payment information — amounts paid, payment method (cash, bank transfer, mobile money), and transaction history. We do NOT store your card number, mobile-money PIN, or bank credentials.
- Support messages — content of messages you send via our contact form, in-app support, or WhatsApp.
Information collected automatically
- Device information — device model, operating system, app version, and crash reports for diagnostic purposes.
- Push notification tokens — anonymous identifiers provided by Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) that allow us to send you notifications about your packages.
- Usage data — pages visited, actions taken, and approximate session times. We do not use third-party analytics that identify you personally.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your customer account.
- To process your shipments end-to-end (intake in China, sea transport, customs clearance, in-store availability, delivery in Cameroon).
- To send you notifications when your package changes status (in transit, arrived, available in store, delivered).
- To collect payments and issue receipts.
- To respond to your support requests and improve our quality of service.
- To meet our legal obligations (commercial accounting, customs declarations, taxation).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract — most processing is necessary to deliver the logistics services you have requested.
- Legal obligation — invoicing, accounting records, and import/export documentation.
- Legitimate interest — fraud prevention, service improvement, and basic analytics that do not identify individuals.
- Consent — push notifications, marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time in app settings or by contacting us.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with parties who are essential to delivering our services:
- Freight forwarders and customs agents — to move and clear your packages. Personal information shared is strictly limited to what is required (typically your name and tracking reference).
- Payment processors — banks and mobile-money operators when you pay through these channels.
- Infrastructure providers — Firebase / Google Cloud Messaging for push notifications, Vercel for hosting, OpenStreetMap for tracking maps. These providers process data under our instructions and have their own policies.
- Authorities — when required by law (court order, customs investigation, fraud complaint).
We never share your contact details with marketing third parties.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as required by Cameroonian commercial law (typically 10 years for financial records). You may request deletion of non-essential data at any time (see section 7).
6. Security
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organizational measures, including:
- Encrypted transport (HTTPS / TLS) between the apps, the website, and our servers.
- Sensitive credentials stored encrypted at rest.
- Access to customer data is limited to authorized employees who need it to perform their duties.
- Container numbers, forwarder names, and other operational identifiers are deliberately hidden from end users to protect both you and our commercial relationships.
No transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we work continuously to reduce risk.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase — request deletion of data that is no longer required for our services or for legal obligations.
- Object — opt out of marketing communications and push notifications at any time.
- Portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent.

8. Children
Our services are intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, contact us so we can delete it.
9. International Transfers
Some of our service providers (Google Firebase, Vercel) may process your data outside Cameroon. We choose providers who offer appropriate safeguards.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
